LAFAYETTE, La., July 31 (UPI) — The Arkansas State Police Bomb Squad has received its order of an explosive blast suppression technology from U.S. company Burner Fire Control Inc.
Burner Fire Control recently conducted a specialized training session with authorities from the Arkansas State Police ahead of an official transfer of its Global Defender Blast Mitigation System to the Bomb Squad unit.
According to a news release, the Global Defender Blast Mitigation System is designed to suppress blast effects of improvised explosive dispersal devices and “is remotely operated, keeping personnel at a safe distance from the explosive device.”
Officials say Burner Fire Control’s Global Defender Blast Mitigation System was selected by the Arkansas State Police Bomb Squad to support the protection of the Arkansas State Capitol, the Bill Clinton Library and other sensitive sites in the state.
